Biography - Lines & Dots

Tigran Tarumyan was born in 1971 in Yerevan, Armenia. Tigran’s curiosity and love for visual arts developed at very early age. A major inspiration for Tigran, as a person as well as an artist, has been his own father, Artashes Taroumian. Tigran’s father’s art has influenced and guided him throughout his life.

Tigran started his artistic career at the age of twelve. Tigran continued his art studies at the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts (YSAFA). During the first and second years at YSAFA Tigran studied traditional classic art. He took classic drawing, painting and sculpture classes. Artashes Hovsepian, a famous Armenian sculptor, was one of Tigran’s most favorite and influential professors during theses years. However, in his third year at YSAFA, Tigran’s art took a new path, the path of lines and dots, which are still very prominent in his current artworks. As Tigran puts it, “he started working with the basic principles of lines and dots.”  From then on Tigran’s art developed into multi-dimensions and futuristic forms; however, filled with dreamy, figurative and organic forms. During his undergraduate years, Tigran was also much influenced and inspired by classical and jazz music, art books, and European classic art.

Tigran’s art is very deep in perspective and meaning.  Most of his pieces are like puzzles for one to put them together by connecting the lines with the dots.  On the other hand, his art is very organic and musical. Tigran has always imagined his art as part of our future; future forms and styles. He sees his art as basis for different industries; the technological industries, the gaming industry, as well as the fashion industry. With his lines and dots, Tigran aims to create new esthetics and influences on people. He wishes to change how people see the future and the future of the visual and graphic arts.

Tigran aims to bring beautiful and timeless imagery to life via unique, imaginative and elegant perceptions and solutions. Always staying true to his artistic merit, his creative spirit and ambitions are the drive behind his storytelling, shapes and colors. Currently, Tigran also sees his art on different products. Currently he is working on branding and licensing some of his artwork to reach wider audience.
